Over the past several months, elementary students across the district have been sharpening and perfecting their Math24 skills.

Why?

To prepare for the QCSD Math24 Competition, hosted by the Office of Teaching and Learning. The competition took place on the evening of May 13th at the Sixth Grade Center, featuring teams from all five of our elementary schools: Neidig, Pfaff, Quakertown, Richland, and Trumbauersville.

Congratulations to our Richland Mathletes! Our team took home a 1st-place finish!

Well done, Panthers!

Thank you to everyone who has taken a moment to recognize our incredible Richland teachers! 🎉

There’s just one day left to submit! All messages will be shared with our school staff as a reminder of the impact they make every day!

Take a moment to share some positivity, like this message for Miss Burke:

“Miss. Burke is an amazing, compassionate teacher who really cares for her students. She goes out of her way to make those kids smile and feel safe, every day. She has helped my struggling child thrive in the most fun way. She is a high conversation in our household in such a positive, respectful way. She is the only one to "calm" my son down when he is feeling stressed or out of place. Miss. Burke will always have a special little place in all our hearts for so many reasons!”

Don’t forget—Teacher Appreciation Week is still underway, and we’re continuing to celebrate our incredible educators across QCSD! There’s still time to share a kind message for your Richland teacher, past or present, like this one we received for Mrs. Shinskie:

“Mrs.Shinskie is currently my son’s kindergarten teacher at Richland Elementary. She creates a classroom environment that is both secure and nurturing, encouraging both academic and personal growth. My son has made wonderful academic progress, but most importantly, he is excited to go to school every morning. Mrs.Shinskie offers positive encouragement and support and has made this first year at Richland very enjoyable for both my son and our family. I am grateful for her and so thankful that she has been my son's first elementary school teacher.”

This week, we are celebrating teachers from across the QCSD for Teacher Appreciation Week! Join the celebration and send a kind note to your Richland teacher, past or present, and we’ll make sure they receive it! You may even see it posted here, like this kind message for Ms. Reilly from one of her 1st-grade parents:

“We were so lucky our daughter got Ms. Reilly this year. She runs a tight ship while also being so kind and compassionate to her students. Our daughter struggles socially and with staying on task in the classroom. Ms. Reilly always pulls her aside to talk her through situations, which is the best way for our daughter to truly learn how to handle them in the future. When you know your child struggles and will need a lot of redirection, it’s hard not to wonder if anyone can see all the good things about your child. Ms. Reilly “sees” our daughter: her strengths, her struggles, when she’s overwhelmed, what works for her and what doesn’t, her sense of humor, when she’s off, or something might be wrong, how to keep her engaged, and what makes her tick. Ms. Reilly has been amazing with our daughter, and we are so thankful for her.”

THANK YOU, MS. REILLY, FOR ALL THAT YOU DO!!

Richland Elementary had a special guest in the front office—Principal for a Day, Miss Emma Blackmore!

Emma earned this honor as the top donor for the Color Run, and she certainly rose to the occasion. From greeting students upon arrival and making morning announcements to visiting classrooms and attending meetings, Emma experienced a full day in the life of a principal! She even made time to help with the book vending machine and enjoy lunch in the principal’s office with friends.

Great job and congratulations, Emma, on an impressive day of leadership!

“Meet The Instruments Night” and parent meeting will be held Tuesday April 21st from 6-7:00pm at Strayer Middle School. This event is for any student who might like to learn a musical instrument next year in the band and orchestra program! (Current band and orchestra students do not need to attend this event unless you are considering learning a new instrument.)

At "Meet the Instruments Night" your child will get to try out their top 3 instrument choices before you enroll in the program and get an instrument for them. Parents will also learn more about the QCSD band and orchestra program, get to meet the teachers, learn about instrument rentals, and ask any questions.

You must pre-register for this event, so we will know our anticipated attendance and can provide the correct amount of supplies (mouthpieces, reeds, etc.).

Please click the link below to register:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfp6cv8KWKc_RzqztqbtccME9wXF0wfzLUHlRczFxORMjmIcw/viewform

*Registering for “Meet The Instruments Night” does not enroll your child in the program. It simply allows the students an opportunity to try out the instruments before you rent, purchase, or borrow an instrument.

If you have questions, please contact your school’s music teacher. Visit qcsd.org/music and click the CONTACT page to find their contact information.

There’s an instrument for everyone, we just need to find the right fit for your child!
